Three, Two, One...Launch!

We witnessed Elon Musk’s and SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy Rocket launch. There sat ‘Starman,’ chillin’ in a hot red Tesla roadster with the top down, rocking out to David Bowie and orbiting the universe. We watched in awe; we all celebrated.

‘Starman’ personifies the hope in each of us to achieve our own goals.

With earth as the scenic backdrop, I was reminded that over 70% of our planet is covered by water. I spent many months on one of its mightiest and dangerous oceans, the Bering Sea. There I felt small. One girl. A multitude of fishermen. One commercial fishing boat in a giant ocean. My every day was filled with only waves, the sun, moon, stars, challenges and big dreams of my own future.

Musk’s accomplishment didn’t come by the chance of two planets colliding. It took years of investment, planning, synchronized minds and talents, but bigger, it took the guts and vision to pursue his goal.

As Musk’s pursuit of launching his Falcon Heavy Rocket seemed lofty, so has the dream of mine to write and publish a book. March 13, 2018, is the day I will end my own countdown of years I put into my memoir. “Ten…three, two, one…” and wait for the virtual command, “You’re go for launch.”

“Roger!” Finally, it is time.

My memoir, “Bering Sea Strong: How I Found Solid Ground on Open Ocean,” my very own ‘Starman,’ will be sent into the universe.

We all feel diminutive, hidden away in a little pocket of the earth. What if you believed in yourself enough to push past your circumstances to achieve your goals, to send your hopes and prayers beyond what you can see, into the greater universe? Launch your own Starman, give a piece of yourself to the world. Or rather help another get there.

Please support my book, share this story, and push your own gifts and ideas. Collectively, we all have something to add to make this a better planet.

“You’re go for launch.”

LoveThisDay.
