My name is Laura Hartema; Love This Day is my blog. I created Love This Day to encourage readers to seek inspiration, beauty and humor in each day. I hope my view brings you a glimpse of joy or at least a much needed kick-in-the-pants.
Originally from Chicagoland, I now call the Seattle region home, where I’m happily embraced by the Cascade and Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound.
I particularly love outdoor adventures, international travel, broad life experiences, and simple wandering. I’ve traveled to twenty-nine countries, many solo, and find beautiful views, connections with strangers without common culture or language, and friendships to be my greatest rewards.
MY “UN”PROFESSIONAL LIFE
I’m fortunate to work as an Ecologist for King County, where my focus is stream and wetland restoration and monitoring, and razzing my peers with my “un”professional, eighth grade humor. I hold a bachelor’s degree in biology from College of the Ozarks in Branson, MO. My work is one of my biggest blessings. Daily, one foot is in city life, and the other is in a large waterproof boot trailing rivers, streams and wetlands.
